if you buy second hand, go with a piano technician after you have a piano in mind. dont save on the few hundred dollars,, tha's a must spend.
beware of piano dealer that says they have display unit for sale, .

what if I buy a first hand from say Tom Lee? what model etc would you recommend for beginner but can serve up to say grade 8?

其實真係睇你/小朋友對音色的要求, Just using for practicing, most piano you can get through till grade 8...不過越高級or as you are more experienced, 覺得個琴就未必做到你要的, 又想continue on, 可以考慮換琴 (係好事, 你/小朋友聽得出+有要求).., otherwise 一般係可以去到grade 8 (might need a rental of room with grand piano  to practice for your grade 8 a few times before exam)

如果系我，二萬至三萬蚊系TL只可以買到內地做的琴，不如買部二手U1。
記住系二手，吾好買易手琴或翻新琴

多謝晒大家提點，如果一手琴買貴一點的，例如去到六萬蚊， 二手賣出去會吾會比較保值？

睇你買咩琴喇! 如果你小朋友初學, 你又唔知佢學唔學得成? (其實學唔學得成都係睇家長配唔配合), 除非你真係好鬆動, 否則你照返你之前困budget都有一部唔錯既初學琴架喇! 唔好睇住二手價值先喇,

i bought a UX3 last year, recently piano technician came and commented that the quality of the piano is very good. genuine from japan, and can play for another 30 years.
buy a good quality piano, if the child wants to give up, you can always sell it. the depreciation costs,, just take it as rental costs.

Hey, just curious on Blackmamba24's comment about parent's cooperation. How should a parent help her child, so that she likes playing piano? I just want her to have a habit that she is proud to tell people about, I don't need her to get championship in any international contest etc.

Just to share ....

In my case, I have fixed a practice schedule for my son  eg 15 mins each day when he starts to learn playing the piano, usually after dinner, I will sit by his side to accompany him, sometimes  sing with him (if there is lyrics) or comment about how he performs.  Eventually this will help to build up a habit for him.  Now he will practice around 30-45 mins daily depends on his homework workload.   Even he has finished his homework very late or have exam on the following day, this is still a habit for him to practice, however, may shorten the practice duration.

bought a new U1 from TL yesterday, for less than $60k, coz they have 10% off on all Jap made pianos.

今日帶小朋友去黃埔冒險樂園，經過偉x琴行，有兩部yahama，木色果部萬幾元，黑色的2萬多d，好似平過其他琴行好多。有興趣可以去看看。
