嶺南大學因應大學教資會轄下質素保證局早前發表的質素核證報告，在上月下旬舉行的教務會會議上決定新增強制英語畢業試，並採用國際英語水平測試（IELTS）為評核工具，將最低畢業要求劃一為該測試總成績六點五分，有關安排將適用於今年九月入學或以後取錄的學生。嶺南大學學生會為此將於後日（三月一日）舉辦學術論壇表達訴求。


畢業生被評英語差


報告於去年十月發表，提到僱主對嶺大畢業生的英語能力評分低，促請校方推行入學和畢業的嚴格英語能力水平測試。


學生會日前在其社交網站專頁發貼，指校方在最近一次校務會議中提出強制新增英語畢業試，要求所有學生參加國際英語水平測試（IELTS），並需要考達六點五分的成績才能畢業，但有關學生考試未達標及重考等細節安排仍在商討中。校方亦曾承諾會全數資助每位學生的首次考試費用。


嶺南大學去年發表六年策略發展計劃時，校長鄭國漢已表示未來會着重校園英語氣氛，計劃要求今年九月起入讀的學生，在畢業前須完成英語水平測試，以確保畢業生英語水平。

其實IELTS 6.5分係好基本要求，好多準備赴英升大學的高中學生隨時都考到7.0或以上

唔係隨時，係一定。仲要唔係overall 7, 係全部四項每項至少7。其實IELTS 6.5, map去DSE比盡你得個4，作為大學畢業要求，低左少少。

IELTS 一般是申請大學時才需要。人家是收學生時已經把關，篩走一些不達標的人。你到畢業才搞，有點怪。

yes, if my memory serves, most university in the UK requires only 6.5 "to enter" as a minimum.Hong Kong graduates of minimum 6.5 is a bit low.

but considering Hong Kong general English abilities, we can't really demand more.

入學不能用lELTS, 因為有DSE。又不能提高英文入學分數, 影響收生。

Another reason, may be the English standard of our students declined over time in the university

香港大部分大學的硕士學位，英文程度都是要求 IELTS 6·5。跟香港再升學是接軌的！
