HKIS vs ESF

My girl is currently studying at ESF K1 and she just got an offer on HKIS reception.

I am struggling to change or not - any advise?

Pro HKIS, straight through from reception to secondary, good track record n reputation.

Pro ESF, my girl so happy there, my only concern is Kindergarden to primary is not 100% guarantee. However chances are very high @ 99% I was told - but still need interview.

Then why you apply for hkis?

They are two total different curriculum schools.  HKIS follows the AP curriculum and ESF follows the British curriculum + IB.  Do you know which curriculum you prefer or more suitable for your child?  If you are intending to send your child to the U.S for college then I'd say go for HKIS,  if not then maybe ESF since your child is happy there and you seem to be happy with the school as well.

Thanks. I applied HKIS because I like the school environment and most importantly it is a straight through. No more interviews for primary n secondary.

ESF we love but still need to go for primary interview. I will shoot myself if she cannot get in QBS and I rejected HKIS offer.

我意見是：

1）先入HKIS reception

2）升小學時再經 ESF central application 報year 1

3）如果QBS收，到時再考慮選邊一間

Ummm but if we go to HKIS now we no longer hold priority at ESF schools during primary application. So pretty much have to decide now to stay and take the small risk or leave to take the insurance.

And if you go hkis now and if you get qbs for year 1 and you choose to switch, which means your child change school every year! Have to think about that too.

My two kids graduated from HKIS many years ago.
One studied in UK and one in Hong Kong. I had choices from ESF as well at that time. My decision is made on the basis that I liked my kids to receive liberal art style education.

I have to mention that there was nothing wrong with ESF. It is purely my personal choice.

Depends on how much you like HKIS. We faced the same dilemma before, my daughter was in ESF k1, then we got FIS reception offer, at the end I decided to pass the FIS offer, because I like ESF better, due to location and Chinese reason. Then I got GSIS k2 offer, this time I took the GSIS offer. At the end I still think the chance to ESF primary is pretty high and I can still apply other primary schools as back up.

Thanks all. Both in my mind are good schools. I think we will let go the HKIS offer and take the chance with QBS. Will apply other primary as back up just in case as well.

I wonder is it possible to hold the HKIS offer. Not go in for reception but ask them possibility to join for P1 next year instead...

My daughter is so happy now.. it will be a bit sad to change her .. but no guarantee she likes primary the same as kindie too.. I hope parents have crystal ball

I think your chance to QBS is 99%! No worry just follow your heart.

My son is at HKIS and he is so happy and doing so well at school.   The program is well rounded and the faculty is very experienced.   There are so many opportunities for parents to be involved.    The new Lower Primary campus is amazing.   

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the school to family and friends.

Why? What is good with HKIS that attracts u if cost is not too much an issue?

1) kids goes into an interview room with different teachers n activities. The kids go around to play n talk to different teachers.

I don't know the exact activities since parents were asked to attend an intro talk in another room.

I like the school from the interview, staff were friendly and caring. I don't know the exact selection criteria.
