Like many Mothers wrote at this web, I want my girl study with Joy. But recently, my friends told me those students cannot write or read Chinese, such as the singer 薛凱琪. She studied at Island School of ESF and she cannot read Chinese as well.

Besides, once I choose the IS for her, she cannot back to Local School. Will I choose the wrong path for her?

There are more choices of international schools now, which emphasize both English and Chinese, such as Yew Chung, Renaissance, ISF (Independent School Foundation).  Even ESF primary will increase the Chinese classes to daily lessons by 2007, and secondary will gradually follow IB programs by 2007.  There are also other local schools running like international schools such as PLK CKY, Victoria.  So won't worry too much about lack of Chinese learning in future.

Oh, maria, not really.  Just so happen to know a bit as I have to learn more about IS to help my kids finding good primary and secondary schools.

And parent can teach the children Chinese and encourge them to study Chinese, ex. read the story book, join the course...

Is there any successful case if the parents teach kid's Chinese?

You may let your children join a Kumon Chinese Class or you may employ a private tutor.

Do you know how many lessons do Yew Chung and  Renaissance have for Mandarin class in one week. What is  ISF , in which place does it located ?

Daily lessons.  ISF is going to move into Cyberpot. You can check info. from their website.

As i know ESF Primary is teaching simple chinese.  May I know which chinese character (simple or traditional) you are teaching with your daughter.  If you are teaching her traditional, did she mix up some words she learnt in school.  Thank you for sharing your teaching methods.  I have learn a lot from you.

You are so great!  You can take time to teach Chinese at home!  I am interested to know what language or dialogue did you use while teaching Chinese, i.e Cantonese or Putonghua?
