- What is this school's teaching approach?  Traditional or stimulating? - I think the school adopts both approaches. On one hand, they have dictations every week (traditional??), but on the other, they adopt activity mode in lessons like oral & Eng. Projects sometimes. There is also the CCA lessons at the end of every week to give students a moment of relax. THe theme differs every few months - physical exercise, cookery... quite interesting.

- Is the homework loading really heavy? - It should be acceptable. May require a period for adaptation at the beginning, but should be ok afterwards.

- Have you heard any of the moms have to quit their job in order to coach their kids on homework? - yes, but there are also mums who quit their jobs at the beginning but work again afterwards.

- How is the English standard?  Average?  Or, Chinese-oriented? - I think the Eng standard is quite good, at least much better than me when I was in the same grade as my son.

- Is it usual for students have to attend private tutor class in order to get good results? - There are but I can't comment if it is 'usual'.

- Since both DBSPD & this school are DSS boys schools, how would you compare between the two?

Hi Elaine,

yes, my son will be in P1 (2007-8) and we are living in MaOnShan.  I was recommended to move to Taikoo Shing as school shuttle normally takes around 30min.  Haven't decided yet coz most of our family members live in KLN.  Still checking if there is choice in KLN side.

How about you? Are you planning to move as well?

Nice to meet you here! My son will be in 07 P1 and we live remote too.

Some boys do live in your area and there is a school bus route running Shatin & MOS currently. If I remeber correctly, the earliest on board is aounrd 6:30am.  They only picked boys from SPC so could save time to wait students from other schools.

If you consider to move to KLN, the first choice may be in West KLN area coz vehicles could go directly into West Tunnel right away.

For us, we decided to stay and try for 3 months after the school year commence.  Moving house is another big issue for us!

Hi  0618,
St Paul's boy have a school bus from Ma On Shan to school, But I live in Tsing Yi, I cannot find a school bus from Tsing Yi to school now, I want to move to Hong Kong, but little brother is K1 now,  he study in Tsing Yi ,I don't want he will change the school in k2 .
St Paul's will be briefing on 25/8/07, I hope to see you later.

Hi all,

Curious to know the competition status of SPCPS.
May I know the points' difference between students is big or small? As I know, some school's students may be ranked differently although there is only 0.5 points' difference.

I haven't compare with other class.  My son rank no.9 in class.  His marks different to the 1st one is 8.

I find the competition is rather keen. My son ranked 18/90 (3 classes). He has only 4 marks difference with the 1st one in the grade.
