I ever studied in 3 universities, one in H.K. and two in Australia. My flatmate in Australia completed his higher degree in London. I believe that the training in UK is better and more formal than that in Australia though I have got my scholarship in Australia. If budget is not your concern, you may consider taking your kid to UK. However, there are some "sub-standard" universities in U.K. You have to select the desired university carefully. In Australia, almost all universities are monitored by the government and the variation is so as big as in other countries like UK and USA.
By the way, your kid should be able to speak in correct English due to the environment as Australia is a multilingual country.
