quite good if your child can speak English at the interview.
I have MANY students at RC... but many of them are planning to leave next year.

can only speak about the ones who are my students.... they feel there is too little "academic" emphasis, and too little time and homework on Chinese/Putonghua studies.

They are applying to ISF, CIS, KCIS....

I attended the school tour of RC 2 weeks ago.  They said they received 510 applications for Year 1 this year and they will interview about 350 in the first round.  They have 140 vancanies for Year 1.  200 out of those 500 applications are from ESf kinders, the kids from ESF kinders will all be interviewed in the first round.

cocobean225:  i did not go with my kid, i think it is a good idea to take your kid there before the interview so as to get them familiar with the school environment.

BabaTed:  Yes i joined the school tour on 30 Oct and we should have met each other there.  My daughter is now studying K2 in ESF Wu Kai Sha, I changed her to Wu Kai Sha for K2 mainly because of the priority in interview which is very very important.  Luckily we have changed her into ESF this year, otherwise, our chance for an interview is quite slim.

Babated,

students are in P5, P4, and  P1.....International schools DO NOT mean less emphasis on academics, it's just a different way of developing the student's academic strengths, I know there are many ESF supporters in here, so I won't say anymore.

My P1 student already is complaining, all she has been learning since Sept, it's all been done in St Catherina's K2 year.
And, everyday, it's just playing.

my students from other ESF schools, hardly any homework, just play play play, and hence, I notice these students find it very hard to SIT down and get focused on a task for a long time.... in comparison to other students of mine in the same age.

Chinese Level is definitely low... all the RC parents are noticing, their kids' chinese levels have gone down, seeking desperately for afterschool tutor and Mandarin classes.

myjasmine,

and there are 2 classes of K2 in the morning and 2 classes in the afternoon?
so roughly 80 K2 kids from ESF Wu Kai Sha is this a good guess?

My children are with RC and they have friends with other ESF schools. I am sorry if my message is going to disappoint you but my children and their friends are extremely academic and they are not restless. Being academic is not the same as having loads of homework. And you do not need to be a square to be a good student.
I am surprised that as a tutor, you chose to generalise the behavior of ESF/RC children by looking at the limited bunch you have met.
However, I understand that most teachers or tutors would prefer to have squares as their students. Squares stay and are easiest to handle.
I can only say that RC and ESF parents should be thankful we have a whole bunch of really loving and competent teachers.

may be you are right, but i am not quite sure as they have mixed class at this moment...that means they have both K1 and K2 in the same class , so i am not sure about the total nos. of K2 kids ...
