我仔係資優, 做完test, 我沒有通知學校, 佢自己本身都不知道, 所以不會在學校講, 我也一向都是順其自然。(Good start..... then.....)
老師知我仔是醒目仔, 比較聰明, 做堂課之類很快, 也時常攪住隔離, 所以安排大量班務給他, 也要他照顧一些成績不好/自理差的同學 (例如幫佢地抄手冊/教堂課....), 而我仔一向成績不是前矛, 只是中上 (考第5, 因為他從來不用功讀書, 上堂也不留心, 有些科目他班中是排第一 (英和數), 有些科目麻麻地), 就是這個原因, 學校沒有選他上學校的資優課程, 只是選了很勤力讀書而名列前矛那幾個同學。(What type of gifted program you mean? If I were the teacher, I will pick the same group of students. Giftedness 10%, hardwork and persistence 90%.)
我仔是很典型的資優生, 差不多全部criteria都好明顯有, 為甚麼資優課程不是選資優生, 而是選品學兼優的學生?? (You either brief the teacher about his giftedness or encourage him to be more all-rounded. You can also find some enrichment programs for him through internet by yourself.) (For EDB case, if there is a gifted program in maths, they will invite the principal or teachers to nominate the top 5% students in maths to apply for the programs and not base on IQ test. That's the case for my son. If your boy is the top boy in Maths and not being nominated, you better ask his teacher, he/she may have other consideration, like he represents the school and the classroom discipline is an issue, will you nominate him to take the course.)
IQ test is a snapshot, if he doesn't further develop his gift(s) and improve his weaknesses or you don't do anything about it. His IQ will be declined along the time. You can go back to your accessor and ask him/her how to develop your boy, that's what I learnt from my son's psychologist.
