I have spent my last week (minus 4 hours of sleep a night)compiling the following list so it will become a more comprehensive list to all of you.

My daughter is now studying K.1 in THINK, she is a small girl 1206. She's quite OK in the school life since she's quite mature. I'm now stuggling about to reapply K.1 for her this year or not. I've got the application form of SC already, the other choices including SP, Good Hope (these kinders have direct primary linkage). My purpose is only to have a better primary school for her. Can you give me some comment?
Moreover, I'm interesting in which school your daughter was finally entered?

Hi jennyevo5,

Since you mentioned your daughter is doing quite well in THINK, why do you think you wanna repeat K1?  Is it just because you want to find a kindergarten with primary school only?

If that's your reason, then SC may not be a choice suitable for this purpose.  So I wouldn't recommend it, unless you have other reasons.

For the case of SP (assuming you mean St. Paul's kindergarten), you may try as a super big B but they don't give preferences to girls from previous year.  I know they accept few of them, but you can try for sure.

For the case of GH, since they are new this year, why don't you consider applying for K2?  It's a new class so the competition may not be as competitive.  However, please note they didn't make any promises to the kindergarten students that they will be admitted directly to primary section yet.

For my daughter, she chose Sacred Heart Canossian Kindergarten in Central for herself.  It's also an option and as they are quite fair to children born in different months, I would say you can try K2 instead of repeat.  Again, depends on any other concerns which you may have.

Hi, I have same concern as yours. My son is also Dec 06 B, now is studing in K1. After I discussed with his teacher yesterday, now I decided the following.

I will apply K1 at PC (one-dragon school) and KV (I like its teaching method) for  my son as big boy. If both unsuccessful, then he will be remained in the current kinder for K2. For me, I think these 2 kinders are worth to try to repeat K1.

My son's teacher advised me that since course of K1 is quite simple, most of kids can handle it. But it will be harder in K2 (ie: need to write letters words), so its better to repeat K2 if kid can not follow the schedule.

LITTLESPICY: For my rationale of repeat K.1 or not is not about the problem of her performance now, since she is quite well in this stage. My concern is for the application of primary school.  In the age of 6, the different of students can be very obvious. Some parents recommend to repeat at K.3 but I think the child is so conscious and smart enough to recognize that she is repeating. I don't want to hurt my little daughter.

Maybe I will accept the comments of Ian to try K.2 of GH.

Just to remind you GH's application will be this weekend and need to bring the necessary documents to the kindergarten in person to apply.  So don't miss it if you wanna try it!  I am considering to make a visit to check out their new campus too, but not sure if allow to walk around.

Good luck!  And remember besides K2, you may still try to apply changing kinder in K3 to those with primary schools!

hi hazel_dad,

I am not familiar with  救世軍幼稚園  so I don't want to give you any incorrect suggestions.  However, have you considered 聖三一中心幼稚園?  It is also full day and I applied to this school for my younger daughter too.

I want to know too.  My twins have been admitted to the whole day Homantin Yang Memorial Methodist Pre-school already but not sure which one is better.

The reason why I will consider 聖三一中心幼稚園 is mainly because it is also in my one-dragon list.  Also, I have reviewed comments in their forum and also the design of their programs quite fit to my needs.

I would think it can help the child to be more independent and care for themselves.  And less worry about primary school since it is just next to it and they would give preferences to their own kinder students.  Also, the class size in their primary is small.

They have open day this Saturday.  Will try to find time to take a look.

Dear Iantsang,

Any comments do you have on St.Johannes and Stafford?  It seems that both are good in English, but not sure their Chinese proficiency.  May you please share your views?  Thanks.
