Hi Showcase,
I'm regretted that you want to change school. Actually, my son is studying happily this year. He has more free time and I don't think it is not good. I've attended some talk about teaching children at this age. They all suggest us to give more free time to the kids and don't give them a fully occupied timetable. Give them some freedom to develop their interest and think. As a parent from tradintional eduction background, it is difficult to accept the kids has a few homework a day and no examination. However, as we all understand, the traditional way of teaching is not the education we want to give to our kids. We have to change ourself first. My son can now have more time to read his leisure books, talk to his friends, play badminton and go chase.
Regarding the movement of teachers, the first one left is the music teacher. Mr Cheung has already explained in his letter to parent in last semester. Mr Cheng's left is totally due to his personal reason and Mr Cheung has explained to us in one of the seminar. For Dr Dawson's left, I think it is largely due to the reflection from the parents. If you have attended the seminars, you should understand what's going on.
For the outdated information on the website, I noted that it was not updated since the open day. Mr Cheung has mentioned in the last seminar that a new teacher has recruitted and will be responsible for the website and also the intranet for parent and students.
For the project assessments, I don't agree some parents doing the work for them. This would get a high mark but the kids did not learn. It is not a comparison with other student. The assessments are actually self assessments, not competing with others.
I'm not sure if you have already withdrawn from the school for the coming school year. If not yet, I hope you can think again. The most difficult time has already passed. It is not easy to see the progress as other traditional assessment where marks and grading are given to examinations. But I'm sure our kids can have better training through the IB education.
