我試過就在我已寄出支票後，收到心議學校的offer，我隨即致電學校告訴他們會放棄該校學位，請他們撕毀支票，因學校未過數亦肯答允，另一方面親身去銀行取消該支票，銀行好像收取了一百元

Yes! Chque is a legal cash. If you cancel the cheque, this means you are using false moneny you will will be sued by the company ! Don't do that..

I have the same situation and had a same thought before. But finally I decided not doing that since it is damage your personal creditability. I really don't want the school keep the bad record to both myself and my kid, just for small amount of money.
