Nice to meet you here, let's try our best to support our beloved one!.... As my ENT doctor said, what we can do at this moment, is to provide as much stimulation to our babies as we can. Since the most critical period for human beings to learn to speak is from 0- 4 years of age...then she could get the concept of speaking/hearing earlier, that will definitely help her development...

我今日終於同yanyan去了東區醫院專科check耳仔, 但仍然只做了OAE, 結果也和之前在健康院一樣----不及格, 要兩星期後再看耳鼻喉醫生, 然後再排期做其他test!!!
唉...雖然我已作了最壞打算, 但仍然很不開心, 又要等.....等待的過程是最痛苦的!
今日幫bb 做test的那個男人態度又差, 問他問題, 他竟不耐煩地說:"我不能答你, 答了你也不會明白, 你起碼要讀一個星期書先會明!"     把鬼火! 我明就唔洗咁擔心啦! 真不明白為何有些醫護人員會如此, 難道他們不知道父母的憂心, 為何不可盡力幫我們??

Shiba-Inu, 其實我想問何謂OAE test"不及格"? 它是以一個population中表現高低來計, 還是其他? 我真的不明白!

    我BB的情況跟你的一樣 , 現在正等候做ABR TEST.  之前健康院的姑娘及醫生不停跟我說在醫院做的OAE十分精細 , 多數合格 , 但......., 所以我也十分擔心和難過 !
    令我安慰的是在這裏我遇到了很多天使 , e.g.  shiba-inu, daisy, reingang...... thank you ! so 振作吧 !

3)可自行向私家兒科醫生查詢意見(子喬經私家兒科轉介，將會在本週六往瑪麗醫院見ENT，但因子喬在東區已有account，故此會以私家ENT形式見醫生(因兒科醫生表示目前最好的兒科ENT在瑪麗))

Hi Katmami,

I totally agree and respect your decision as your baby's mom!

Please check email, these are private hearing aid companies/ hospitals that have the equipment to do hearing test with kids. (Well, ENT doc don't have them because they are so expensive!) Those with asterisk may have the ASSR testing equipment as well. Call them to enquire if needed.

3.        It Takes Two To Talk: A Parent's Guide to Helping Children Communicate
by Ayala Manolson, Barbara Ward & Nancy Dodington (1996). This book has the Chinese translation. Check with some academic bookstores like A & P.


Movie:
-        第24届百花奖最佳故事片奖《漂亮妈妈》 , 导演：孙周 , 演员：巩俐；高忻 (1999). It’s a story about how a single-mom in Chinese raises her hearing impaired son. I do not totally agree with the method she teaches her son (the more information you get later, the more you know about the different methods of teaching). However, the story itself is touching and the little kid in the movie is a real hearing impaired actor.

謝謝您!
其實我已多次試bb對聲音的反應, 我有以下發現:
(1)如果在她面前發出聲響, 她只會望著我, 好像沒有太大反應, 但當我躲在她背後發出聲音, 如拍手, 搖鈴, 甚至叫她的名字, 她多數也會向那個方向望, (當然有時也沒有反應)
(2)她有時睡覺會被開門嘭門聲, 關櫃門聲, 推椅子聲等吵醒;
(3)最明顯是餵奶時, 她吃得昏昏欲睡時, 我只須用脷發出"lak lak" 聲她便會醒, 有時我大聲少少叫工人為我拿東西, 她也會馬上震一震.....
其實還有很多很多事也顯示她對聲音是有反應的, 但我怕我只是自欺欺人......

p.s. 我在東區也是那個姓陳, 戴眼鏡的男人做test, 我怕之後也是他......

其實我想知OAE和ABR test 是否不同?我bb只做了兩次OAE, 遲些做的是否ABR?

等我扮吓專家解答你嘅問題啦:

我見的瑪麗醫院ENT話, OAE係近兩年推行嘅初步聽力測試, 每個公立醫院初出生的BB都要做的, 主要將電子"耳塞"放入安靜BB耳中測試其反應。(不過據云因為要盡量早D發現有聽力問題的BB起見, 尼個test大多"有殺錯, 冇放過"的)

而當OAE不合格時, 就會因應情況再去做ABR, 但BB必須六小時前不吃,不飲奶,不飲水,不睡然後再吃少量安眠藥令佢瞓著, 才再用電子儀器貼滿BB腦部測試其反應...(好似好唔人道....)
不過兩種測驗箇中的電子分析結果我就真係唔懂啦...

詳細資料，萬萬萬萬萬分感激         

子喬今日去完瑪麗ENT，對聽力問題有多咗了解，想同大家分享      :

1)  以HK嚟計，每1,000名新生嬰兒有5個BB聽力有問題，有d原因不明，另外會係遺傳、藥物或疾病(eg.腦膜炎)引致。
2)  以HK醫療水準嚟睇，如果BB可以愈早發現，配合適當治療同語言訓練，好大機會可以與一般兒童發展無異。就以瑪麗過往x百個做咗人工耳蝸手術嘅BB，成功率高達9x%。
3)  聽力治療可以助聽器，再嚴重嘅可以做人工耳蝸手術，但手術前要做磁力共振同腦素描(可確定BB耳仔邊part有問題，但因有幅射，唔可以太細過做)，人工耳蝸手術最快可以BB一歲到歲半做，手術費用十幾萬一隻耳仔(以私家嚟計)。

子喬依家排緊8月再做ABR test，現階段佢仲細，無乜實在嘅嘢可做，遲d再update大家啦。

希望loveyanpig，Katmami，mdoip唔好太担心，早d發現未嘗不是好事，至少可以喺bb語言發展前得到醫治。各媽媽，大家努力加油

子喬出世喺醫院時做聽力普查fail(唔sure是否即係OAE)，之後3個月開始做ABR test，至今做咗2次，即係katmami講嘅方法，由於個ABR test係由電腦操控，所以結果會係客觀嘅。
除咗ABR test之外，我哋係葵涌嘅測試，聽力師仲會試其他嘅人為聲音(eg. 打鼓，敲杯，講嘢)，以確切了瞭聽力障礙嘅情度。
仲有果個姓陳戴眼鏡的男人，係專幫bb做聽力測試(我遇過佢2次，ai無辦法啦 :cry: )。

I want to ask one question, someone told me that if got only one ear can hear, the normal may got deaf later as too much workload for the normal one.  It will happen or not?  I am afraid that my little boy as he got one good ear and the other bad.

各位mama,

yanyan早兩日在東區做第二次OAE test fail了, 兩星期後見耳鼻喉醫生, 應該之後再排六個星期做ABR test.
從妳們所說, 瑪麗的耳鼻喉科好像比東區好很多, 加上我不想再由那個姓陳的男人幫我們做(他只會令做父母的我們憂心忡忡, 而且不會作詳細解釋), 請問各位有何方法可轉去瑪麗? 看私家耳鼻喉醫生, 然後要求轉介? 還是有其他方法? 請指教! 謝謝!
