To increase the vocabulary, the best way is encouraging your kid to read, from comic books, newspaper, road signs, advertisement to story books.  I will discuss with my son a few words and their use after he finished a book.  Some words appear simple but have different meaning when they are used in different context.  For example, I had a terrible row with gran last night.  The word 'row' here means quarrel.  My son will overlook these kind of 'simple' words.

我都係買 SAP 比呀囡，用vocab，亦覺不錯，但ｄ生字都幾深，比學校所用的較深入和廣泛，要倍佢一齊做．中文比較喜歡樂思．其實中／英文同樣，詞彙不足，篇文章內容再好都會冇味道．講講下都幾似我地炒菜冇落鹽．
