我有個同事的小朋友，於上年9月1st In 後, 10月收到通知 2nd In, 當時校長同我個同事講 : 你個小朋友面試表現ok, 但英文程度欠佳, 我留個位比你小朋友, 但你要同小朋友惡補下啲英文，出年6月你隨時帶小朋友返黎再面試。
於是，她揾左個補習老師，一對一補左幾個月。今年6月她多次致電學校, 但校務處均回覆校長好忙，於是她唯有同個職員講左佢個情況，但對方表示: 而家無學位，或者我問下校長然後覆你。等左幾日之後佢再致電學校，但職員話:校長話唔記得哩件事，不過記得都無用, 因為學校而家一個位都無。我個同事勁無奈之下，揾左個認識校長的朋友，親口再問一次，點知校長話:無啲'o甘'既事。
其實佢好鍾意哩間學校,但經過呢件事後,佢對學校勁失望...

其實你同事上年有冇收到信或writing List,  係收她的小朋友,  好少會有這情況,  而且係你同事單方面講,  會否當時聽錯呀,  基本上唔會即覆家長,  要等信的.

The case of your colleague is quite strange.  I have not heard of such kind of verbal conditional offer.  I think what the principal said is to try again in June.

Yes, it is quite strange.  If I were the Principal, I shall not reply like this.  Also, at the moment, the school cannot confirm if there is any vancany released because the deadline of registration (or payment) is in August.  So your colleague may still have chance but I believe at least he/she had received confirmation letter that his/her child is in the waiting list.

我囡囡當年1st In 都係見老師, 2nd In再見主任和副主任, 妳同事1st In就見校長, 校長又會即時話收她的小朋友,  又幾奇怪, 當時係咪聽錯呀,  基本上唔會即覆家長,  要等信,我想都係誤會, 可能係叫妳同事出年6月再帶小朋友返黎再試。。

我囡囡當年應該係1st In後(只接見小朋友), 要等信, 2nd In時, 小朋友先見兩位正副主任, 後接見家長, 和家長傾談後已即時告知小朋友面試冇問題, 已接受入學申請, 通常有得2nd In 機會都好大, 當年我都是2nd In即日付留位費。(其實可以遲D交留位費, 但當時太開心, 馬上交了。)

阿囝 1 st In時 (只接見小朋友)，家長係冇得見老師或校長的，2 nd In 時 是先接見囝囝 ，然後一起見兩位主任的，
一次都冇機會見校長的。

你叫朋友 8月 再打電話去學校，看看可否比多次機會小朋友再次面試吧！ 不過如果冇位多出的話，就無辨法了。

過今年好似好多 waiting list  ！！！

My boy was admitted to P1 2008-2009.  We met the Vice Principal (Primary Section) in the 2nd interview.  She gave us the offer letter right away after the interview.

Hence, there might be the case of meeting the Vice Principal but I have never heard of (from school and other parents) re. verbal conditional offer.

I heard of that there would be an admittion test to be held on Aug 1 but not sure whether this would be P1 or other grades.

I am sorry, as I also feel very strange - my daughter was put on waiting list after 1st interview in Sept. I have rang the school for many many chance and they finally 2nd interview my daughter and myself. However, even the vice principal said my daugher has improved greatly, and "will consider" her application, they stress that I still have to wait for others to give up the place (and I am still waiting). So I feel very very strange if the principal said that to your friend.
I do not mean to offens you or your friend, I just feel qerry!

我諗你個朋友會唔會誤會左校長既意思?  校長咁多年辦學經驗, 而且又明知d位咁緊張, 犯不著開張咁既空頭支票出嚟, 可能言詞上你朋友有d野誤解左都未定.

我老公聽完了, 都覺得有疑點, 唔係唔信, 你個friend可能講漏了一些東西, 我係smc 個topics 打"混"甘耐, d家長講過, 正校長係小學收生階段無出現過, 一直都係 副個位, 唔知我有無講錯.

就算係副校長都好多年教學經驗, 都唔會犯呢d錯誤, 我相信都係誤解機會大d.

我問清楚喇, 當日真係見校長, 但她是無辜的, 相信有其它人從中作梗啫! 算了吧!

As far as I know, the Principal (Mrs Tam) did not involve in the P1 interview process.  It would be really strange for her to just interview your friend's child and offer him / her a seat.

Do not understand 其它人從中作梗?  Readers may be mislead to think it would be an under table deal.  It would be unfair to other waiting list parents.

I also want to know the whole picture of the story as it is unfair to everyone (your friends, the school Principal, etc.). I never heard that the Principal of this school joined the interview before. So i really want to know if there is any misunderstandings among parties.
