assessment and homework

Hi, my son wil be joining year 1 at 2015, i have a few questions regarding homework and assessment, can any of cs parent can help,
1. Is there any assessment for year 1? If so, what is the format like?
2. Any homework for year 1?
3. Is dictation starting from year 1 or 2?

1) no assessment for year 1
2) not much homework
3) spelling test & ductation start from year 2

ol_bb , are you native HK or from elsewhere?  I am native HK but my children are half chinese, we're returning to HK to live this Sept.  Looking for a school that would suit my son who speak Chinese but write no chinese....  Is the school mainly for kids who dont speak Chinese?

Yes, we are native hk, i think kids studying in ymca coming from both international kindergarten and local kindergarten, and this school offers  two stream of chinese, your can actually choose the easier one for your child.
