Normally how old will bring your child to learn the phonics?

Hello,my children started when they were about 3
years old,I taught them by myself until they go to kindergarten.I did sent my daughter to playgroup when she was about 36 months,I found that quite
good because she learnt to mixed with other kids,
to shared with others etc.
