Can your P.1 kid use chopsticks?

Today news reported that parents in HK too protect their kids. A 8 yeards old kid should be able to eat independently.

However, my kid at P.1 seldom uses chopsticks, usually uses spoon. In addition, as she is changing her milk teeth. It is hard for her to cut the food using her front teeth. I usually cut the food into pieces using scissor for her. Please share.

If you are willing to train your kid, s/he can use chopsticks even at 5 years old.

我仔未夠五歲時主動要用chopsticks, 我地都冇教佢用, 係佢自己學的, 現剛五歲, 可以夾倒瓜菜同"爬"飯咁.

至於你囡囡, 可以比"淋"d的food佢食, 呢段時間cut the food into smaller pieces 我覺ok, but kids can adapt easily even they have to bite the food.  Today's kids are so well cared, 我細個換牙阿媽都冇特別照顧

I agree that children should not be over-protected, otherwise, they will have very very hard time when they grow up and when they are required to handle something independently.  Let's prepare them to face the world.

My younger daughter use chopsticks before she was 3.

my son used chopsticks as he was in K1. but he can not do it very well. He is K3 now and do it very good. even use chopsticks to take 花生, 玻璃珠.

My boy also can do at K2-K3.  I think they need to practise every meal.......

May be you can play with the lego and chopsticks.
Then try some bread, sausages, vergetable, meat, rice, potatos .....

My kid started using chopsticks at K1.  She didn't like it in the first place.  But every time we dined out at a Chinese resturant, she wanted to eat some peanuts.  So once, I put the peanut saucer in front of her, gave her a pair of chopsticks and told her she could eat as many as possible by using chopsticks.  Since then, she mastered chopsticks at the expense of dropping on the table half of the peanuts in that saucer.  

I didn't offer her any more peanuts afterwards.

我以前太保護我小朋友，他5歲時也不曉得用筷子，但我看書指最好在6歲前要小朋友識用筷子，對他們的腦部有刺激作用。於是我狠心一
